We utilised the Pimcore platform to build a bridge between the client’s system and Asia’s leading lifestyle eCommerce marketplace Zalora. The solution enabled the client’t team to effortlessly publish product content and assets to the digital marketplace using Pimcore.

Established in the 1980s, the client has been at the forefront of the retail industry for more than 40 years. As one of Southeast Asia's largest and leading players, the client has been growing its company’s presence in the eCommerce market by covering an extensive range of speciality and lifestyle concepts. The company has a well-established brand portfolio that encompasses a wide range of categories, including luxury, casual and fast fashion, beauty, footwear, home and restaurant products.

The Challenge

Manage and deliver product content of 100+ brands.

The client was expanding its business in the emerging e-commerce market in the region. As part of the partnership, the client wanted to publish its products on Zalora, an e-commerce marketplace based in Singapore.

  1. Massive Data Handling

The legacy systems were inefficient & created scalability issues in handling large volumes of product information and related attributes. Having a vast range of products, sorting and sifting through content information became tedious and prone to errors.

  1. Managing Cluttered Product Information

Another issue our client faced was managing numerous products with related content and assets effectively. Regularly creating new products made it difficult for the team to organize and enrich them.

  1. Inaccurate Product Description

Client’s team could not accurately publish product descriptions on the e-commerce marketplace due to disorganized product information. This issue hindered product sales, adversely affecting their growth strategy.

The Solution

This project required a systematic approach that would enable the client to easily add, enrich and publish data objects to the eCommerce platform from the existing ERP systems. We utilized the Pimcore platform as a bridge between the existing systems and the e-commerce platform that reduced cost and go-to-market time significantly.

Our focus

Our primary focus was to prepare a service bridge to bring product data from the existing ERP system to Pimcore for data enrichment and to publish it to the eCommerce marketplace using APIs.

  1. Seamless flow of data objects 

We formulated a data flow that would allow clients to easily retrieve data from their legacy ERP systems using APIs and maintain it on the Pimcore platform. By thoroughly understanding the client’s product information, we customized the Pimcore platform as per the client’s requirements and added data fields for hassle-free data enrichment.

  1. Using Pimcore for data enrichment

The client had products from 100+ brands, we deeply comprehended the different types of product information and created universal data fields, allowing the client to effortlessly organize and segregate multiple products. We created a customized dashboard to add Master Data information and Sales Channel Information comprising various common and discrete fields, including essential product names, item descriptions, etc., to relatively specific manufacturer numbers, vendor numbers, etc.

  1. Data objects published on the e-commerce marketplace through Pimcore

Integrating the Pimcore platform with the e-commerce marketplace enabled our client to easily enrich and publish 10000+ products on the marketplace website with accurate product information and attributes.
